I had an email convo today with some high-up guys from a company I discovered while pitching for some work. So, we're both heading into the same fight for the same work. After Googling them and scouring their website I see that they do some pretty cool stuff ... the sort of stuff I enjoy doing, but they clearly do it better in some ways. So Aiden thinks to himself, "hm, might be nice to strike a relationship with these guys". Aiden emails them, gets a response saying he's one of many with such offers, and that they cannot take any further steps. All I wanted was some face-to-face time over coffee.
What's gets me though is the business meme at the bottome of their email, "thank you for your enquiry ... we've added your details to our database." Who has ever done this, really? And if you did, would you be able to find this "database". I haven't, and none of the companiesI've worked for have had a door labelled "Enquiry Database Dept".
It seems this phrase is a polite way of saying your email will find a cozy spot in my AutoArchive folder when I remember to archive ... that's if I don't rpefer the "delete" button.
