… at playing "tag, you're it!" than I was. You see, I grew up in a small garden. But my cousins! Gosh, they had a mammoth garden. It came with innumerable hiding places behind bushes and its very own (supposedly) haunted spots that we just did not go near (especially at night!). It was like playing against professionals. I stood no chance of catching them, nor finding them, once they had tagged me.
Thankfully, the nature of the game has changed, and I now have a chance to tag anyone I wish in Blog Tag . Ah, the world wide web … where no one can hide! Mwahahahahah.
I'm currently "it". Max has tagged me in a nifty little Web 2.0 game where you share 5 things people probably don't know about you.
Here they are:
- I try to be a musician. Over the last decade or so I've been working against every strain of DNA in me to develop some sense of musical capability. I play the guitar and try to sing … tralalaaa. There must be a Greater Being, because I've ended up being a worship leader. Along with Stopforth on the drums, we can wax a mean tune.
- I tend to get myself thrown into the deep-end … often. Some instances include taking up a role as a Anger Management facilitator while still studying at Diepkloof Prison here in Jozi. I helped a group of people, convicted for rape, deal with some of their anger issues. Then, at the tender age of 22 I counseled a 40-year old man who had been molesting his daughter for 11 years. There are many more stories on his point, but let me move one …
- I'm about to marry a woman (Sam) who told me she was too busy to go out on a date with me when I first asked her. My battle scars show … but I have conquered!
- I long deeply to play Bowls. In fact, it is so obscene that when the Winter Olympics are on TV I become infatuated with the ice-version of Curling. Yep, my friends do call me Granny Choles for a reason.
- I'm passionate about men. Noooo … not in that sense. I'm passionate about Maleness and how men come to be authentic men in society. My Masters research was entitled Re-inventing the Caveman (read it here) . Following on from Rob Becker's Broadway hit, Defending the Caveman , and South Africa's version by Tim Plume, I had some conversations with men about re-inventing the caveman … we didn't want to defend him.
Right, let me pay it forward:
